Paragon GE is looking for a Cyber Security Specialist for a staff position with an Oil & Gas Operating company in the UK.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, with a focus on protecting critical infrastructure, preferably in the oil and gas industry. They must have an understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies relevant to offshore environments, such as satellite communications, remote access solutions, and SCADA systems.

Purpose of the Role:
  • To fortify our organization's defences by leveraging advanced knowledge and expertise in cybersecurity principles, networking, and cloud environments.
  • The Cybersecurity Specialist will play a critical role in identifying vulnerabilities, implementing robust security measures, and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our digital assets across both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Contribute to maintaining the trust and confidence of our stakeholders while enabling our organization to innovate and thrive in an increasingly interconnected operation.

Job Function:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies tailored to the unique challenges of offshore environments, including platforms, rigs, and vessels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cybersecurity measures into offshore operations and ensure alignment with industry regulations and standards.
  • Perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on offshore networks, systems, and applications.
  • Identify and prioritize vulnerabilities and recommend remediation measures to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Investigate security breaches, incidents, and suspicious activities to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with incident response teams and external partners to contain and mitigate the impact of security incidents effectively.
  • Manage access controls, authentication mechanisms, and encryption protocols to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data transmitted and stored offshore.
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats and security technologies to improve the effectiveness of security controls in offshore environments continuously.
  • Develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness programs and training sessions tailored to the uniqueness of the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Educate offshore employees and contractors on best practices for data protection, safe technology use, and recognition of social engineering tactics.

Qualification & Experience:
  • High school diploma (Degree in computer science or related field is preferable)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, with a focus on protecting critical infrastructure, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies, conducting vulnerability assessments, and managing security incidents in complex environments, including offshore facilities.
  • Understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies relevant to offshore environments, such as satellite communications, remote access solutions, and SCADA systems.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and proficiency in configuring and securing cloud-based infrastructure and services
  • Experience conducting cybersecurity assessments and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, including expertise with the IEC 62443 standard for industrial automation and control systems security.
  • Experience leveraging threat intelligence sources and security analytics platforms to detect and mitigate cyber threats in offshore environments proactively.
