Paragon GE is looking for an Petroleum Engineering General Manager for a position with an E&P company in Egypt.

This is a direct hire position and will be offered on a 14x14 or 28x28 rotation.

Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in production operation and production/petroleum engineering, with focus on offshore oil and gas operations. Minimum of 5 years leadership experience leading diverse petroleum engineering teams. Candidates must be hands on and have experience leading petroleum engineering teams for international exploration and production companies.

Job Purpose
  • Manage the daily production volumes, allocation, production losses, optimization and well testing.
  • Manage water-flood targets, implementation and testing.
  • Manage all Production Engineering and rig-less well intervention.
  • Provide continuous surveillance of production:  gas compression volumes, gas lift and well optimization, and field automation.

Duties, Responsibilities and Performance Standards:
  • Technical review, management and direction / prioritization of work.
  • Review all well-work procedures to ensure quality engineering programs are prepared and engineered in accordance with accepted industry practices.
  • Ability to both technically develop and review / ensure / correct technical procedures. 
  • Manage the Metering and Measurement Team to focus on well testing using Multiphase Flow Meters (MPFMs), Coriolis, Venturi, dP, and sonic meters as well as a portable test separator.
  • Provide overall measurement strategy to improve allocation.
  • Oversee Well Integrity Management, tracking and implementation.
  • Manage well integrity testing, annulus communication testing and testing of wells capable of natural flow.
  • Ensure proper quality engineering analyses is conducted with regard to monitoring and optimizing well performance and plant performance, completion operations, scale management and flow assurance issues. 

Lead the District Engineering Team.
  • Establish District Engineering Team goals and objectives in areas focusing on HSE, Production, Integrity Management, and People development.
  • Manage both short-term (weekly and quarterly objectives) and long-term (annual delivery of performance goals).
  • Coordinate with Operations staff and personnel to ensure rig-less workovers, well tests, and wireline jobs are prioritized and executed efficiently.
  • Provide support to the Emergency Response Team and incident investigation as necessary.  

Reporting: Establish and maintain key reports and targets.
  • Track of production losses and IPC (Installed Production Capacity).
  • Manage Lessons Learned via Process Upset Reporting (5-why’s).
  • Estimate losses for upcoming Shutdowns or Maintenance activities. 
  • Daily production allocation, well testing, and sampling programs.
  • Ownership of the 90-Day Production Plan, support for the annual production plan and production targets.
  • Update plan weekly with well work priorities and associated oil-gaining benefits.
  • Transfer best practices to build experience and competency.
  • Coordinate key activities with other Engineering Supervisors and Managers in Cairo to ensure agreement and alignment on strategic long-term plans.

Coaching, Training and Mentoring: Actively contribute to the development staff.
  • Ability to coach and mentor as required.
  • Assist operations leadership team on ad hoc requirements as required. 
  • Facilitate team’s participation in Well x Well Reviews with Cairo Reservoir Engineering staff.
  • Ensure succession plans are in place for both company and national staff.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching for company challengers as required. 

Requirements
  • Engineering Bachelor Degree from an Accredited university-Major Petroleum, Chemical, Geological, or Process Engineering Degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in production operation and production/petroleum engineering, with focus on offshore oil and gas operations. Minimum of 5 years leadership experience leading diverse petroleum engineering teams.
  • Must have experience working outside Egypt or working directly for an International company within Egypt. 
  • Hands-on field experience in gas lift, E-line operations, wireline operations, water flood management, well stimulations, scale mitigation and basic reservoir management is a plus.
  • Experience with production chemistry & emulsion management, scale tendency & mitigation, H2S management and working in an Offshore environment is a plus.
  • Experience in Emergency Response Team and IMT is a plus. 
  • This position routinely fills the role of Situation Unit Leader and occasionally as Incident Commander.  ERT training will be required for this position.
  • Excellent experience of Production Engineering skills and well-work.
  • Ability to influence through persuasion and relationships.
  • Teamwork and Effective relationship building with company and national counterparts are critical skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflicts and differences within and beyond the team.
  • Adapt to constantly changing environment and priorities.
  • Maintain composure in extremely difficult situations.
  • Prioritize and focus team efforts given limited manpower and equipment resource. 
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must have experience working outside Egypt or working directly for an International company within Egypt. 
  • Hands-on field experience in gas lift, E-line operations, wireline operations, water flood management, well stimulations, scale mitigation and basic reservoir management is a plus.
  • Experience with production chemistry & emulsion management, scale tendency & mitigation, H2S management and working in an Offshore environment is a plus.
  • Experience in Emergency Response Team and IMT is a plus.         
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of well completions, SSSV / tree testing and purpose, troubleshooting of well performance. 
  • Technical competency in Gas Lift Design, Wireline, E-line, pumping operations, optimization, Prosper, Pipesim, Gap is very beneficial.
