Paragon GE is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel for a staff role with an E&P company in London.
The Senior Legal Counsel will manage a wide range of regulatory, corporate, financing, and compliance-related legal issues and transactions. This role requires a strong understanding of corporate structure and governance to support business activities and coordinate with internationally based counsel for necessary activities. In collaboration with the wider team and external counsel, where required, you will manage claims, disputes, and litigation, support the finance group in corporate authorizations and KYC, and provide compliance and operational contract support to various departments.
The position would suit an individual who has extensive corporate law and C&P contracts experience within the energy market. African or international experience would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive legal assistance across all departments.
- Draft, negotiate, and review complex legal documents and contracts.
- Support corporate governance activities, including board and shareholder meetings, as required.
- Manage claims, disputes, and litigation.
- Assist the finance team with corporate authorizations, KYC and lending activities
- Offer compliance contract support to HR, HSSE, CSR, and Operations.
- Prepare tender packages, conduct negotiations, and manage the contract lifecycle.
- Provide legal assistance to the C&P department to ensure compliance with regulations and standards, and in negotiating favourable terms for the business.
- Develop, review, and provide training on relevant policies and procedures.
Qualifications and requirements:
- 4-8 years PQE qualified in the UK.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in upstream oil and gas contracting is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Fluency in French is a bonus.
- Available for occasional travel to West Africa.
