Paragon GE is looking for a Drilling Operations Manager for a staff position with an Oil & Gas operator in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Candidates must have a minimum 15 years of experience in onshore/offshore drilling, completion and workover operations and engineering, including at least 5 years of experience as a Drilling Superintendent.

Job Purpose
  • Guide and direct operational activities related to the execution of Drilling, Completion and Workover operations.
  • Ensure that consistently high standards of practices and safety in Drilling, Completion and Workover operations in order to safely meet well objectives at minimal cost.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overseeing the offshore Drilling operation.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, execution, control and completion of wells consistent with the company's expectations for safety, profitability and schedule.
  • Responsible for overseeing Drilling on multiple offshore rigs (between 3-4 rigs).
  • Daily interaction with the Rig Superintendents to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Establish measures of success for Drilling, Completion and Workover operations.
  • Identify potential technical challenges or problem areas in the well plan and recommend preventive or remedial measures.
  • Review and endorse Drilling and Workover programs.
  • Identify applicable Engineering standards and industry best practices for incorporation into the well program.
  • Ensure that process improvements, new technologies and other means of improving operations are communicated and successfully applied in the field.
  • Support company exploration activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE standards and statutory requirements during the well operational process; identify and develop opportunities to avoid safety hazards out of well operations.
  • Ensure that risk assessments are performed for key phases of the well program.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and best practices designed to maximize the safety, cost-effectiveness and efficiency of drilling, completion and workover activities.
  • Ensure compliance with and proper application of company procedures and internal regulations, including those pertaining to confidential information, and recommend updates as needed.
  • Ensure that drilling planning and scheduling systems are implemented and kept up-to-date.
  • Establish the scope of work for Drilling, Completion and Workover contracts based on objectives set forth in the Field Development Plan.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual Drilling plan to ensure that resource requirements and work programs are adequately addressed during implementation.
  • Liaise with Drilling engineering team to identify requirements for equipment, materials and services, and to coordinate scheduling of well operations.
  • Review well work program with sponsoring department and propose modifications or amendments where needed.
  • Maintain effective and proper working relationships with contractors and service companies to ensure that company requirements are understood and met in terms of expected standards of safety, quality and performance.
  • Review department reports for completeness, accuracy and adherence to required standards.
  • Provide reports and presentations as required.
  • Provide management with drilling input for making field development decisions.
  • Support department staff in meeting needs for employee training, development and skill gap closure.
  • Coach employees in order to build their knowledge and skills.
  • Mentor staff to ensure appropriate succession management.
  • Motivate employees by encouraging, recognizing and rewarding superior performance.

Requirements:

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering

Minimum 15 years of experience in onshore/offshore drilling, completion and workover operations and engineering, including at least 5 years of experience as a Drilling Superintendent.
