Role Summary
The Drilling Manager will oversee all aspects of drilling operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and alignment with the organizations objectives and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The Drilling Manager acts as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring seamless execution of drilling projects. He will be the overall responsible for the ongoing operations and the ultimate decision maker
Role and Responsibilities
HSE
- Proactively and visibly contributes to all HSE initiatives and efforts.
- Verify HSE policies are included in well programs and procedures.
Performance
- Adherence to the company’s standard procedures and designs.
- QA/QC Equipment Plan Assurance.
- Organize/Host Well Reviews.
- Drilling Programme development and operational documentation preparation
- Pre-Spud Meeting with services companies
- Rig Acceptance and well spud
Business Delivery
- Develop and oversee the execution of drilling strategies to meet project objectives.
- Prepare and manage budgets for drilling programs, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial targets.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all drilling operations, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of drilling programs, including well design, rig selection, and contractor management.
- Ensure all drilling operations are conducted in compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and industry regulations. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all drilling activities
- Provide technical expertise and support for well planning, drilling techniques, and problem-solving during operations.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance drilling performance and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with geologists, engineers, and other departments to ensure alignment of objectives and seamless project execution.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Conduct post-operation reviews and implement lessons learned to improve future performance
- Execution of drilling programs on schedule and within budget. Preparation of detailed reports on drilling progress, performance metrics, and any deviations or challenges encountered
- Comprehensive well reports, including cost analysis and operational data.
- Periodic updates on budget performance, including cost-saving initiatives and expense control measures.
- Recommendations for continuous improvement and future project planning
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferably Petroleum Engineering
- 20+ years’ experience in similar position
- Experience in leadership or managerial role, overseeing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects
- Proficiency in various drilling techniques
- In-depth understanding of safety and environmental standards, such as API, ISO, and local regulations
