Paragon is searching for a Field Manager for our client, an Oil and Gas Operating company in Egypt.
This position is only open to local candidates and is a staff role that will be offered on a 28x28.
Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in production operations with focus on onshore oil and gas operations and a minimum of 5 years leadership experience leading diverse operations teams in the field. Candidates must be hands on and have experience leading operations teams for international exploration and production companies. Candidates must also have experience with JV operations.
The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of operations management experience and have extensive experience with other E&P operations internationally.
Candidates must have experience of working in a JV, Egypt experience is required.

Job Purpose
- Sets clear direction in line with the annual Performance Plan, oversees the execution of tasks carried out by the field teams, and provides continuous follow-up.
- Responsible for safe, reliable and regulatory compliant production operations. Manage all site activities, production, operational maintenance and facility integrity, planned shutdowns/turnarounds, well-intervention, pipeline survey and repair, and emergency-response etc.
- Manage and optimize spend at site, keeping wells and facilities running safely and smoothly while protecting company’s interest in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all field Operations concurrently with the JV Field Manager.
- effective planning, prioritization and tracking of scope, schedule and cost of tasks or projects.
- focus on high HSE performance and operational excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement through leadership, mentoring, development and communication.
- Achieve corporate targets including those for HSE and production.
- Sustain a close collaborative working relationship with all departments
- priority for HSE, Operations (Petroleum/Production Engineering, Maintenance, Drilling and Projects
- ensure our service providers are supportive of meeting business objectives.
- Single point of accountability in the field for company.
Management
- Support and/or be the Incident Commander for ERT's to ensure the priorities of people and risk management endures during the emergency response situations.
- Lead the national teams and staff in sustaining and extending the progress made in areas of HSE, process safety, operational integrity, planning and competence.
- Lead many site meetings and must deliver with a considered style in order to ensure that the meetings remain well structured, all issues are raised and addressed, and all the team understand and agree on the required actions.
- Set priority for production, project and construction which are fundamental to ensuring the correct focus is given to both safety and production.
- A key focus of the Performance Plan is the development of front-line supervision in the management of HSE, Process Safety and Production.
- Risk management and integrity
- Manage risk associated with our operations through procedures, risk assessment, control of work, SIMOPS management and dispensation review processes.
- Manage Process Safety, ensuring that Process Safety is not only embedded but is understood by all staff, provide the leadership, support, drive and energy within the team to make Process Safety “business as usual” and be able to demonstrate year on year improvement.
- Ensure mitigations are adhered to and risk reduced (ALARP) where risk elimination is not possible.
- Embed systematic and sustainable process safety and integrity management systems within Company operations.
- Leading the audit process to ensure the application of all agreed mitigations and actions are embedded.
Production optimization
- Lead the optimisation of business through sustaining production and efficient execution of work plans and programs.
- Lead TAR process including and not limited to set up plan, SIMOPS, shut down minimization and recourses optimization.
- Manage Eastern and Western Desert activities by setting priorities and time frame.
- Oversee well work activities to ensure minimal negative effect on production and safe operations.
- Budget control
- Deliver company goals including production and work plan within budget.
- Optimize purchase requisitions and ensure effectiveness of ordering process by working with internal departments to understand ongoing shortages, processing and delivery times that may impair production.
- Deliver maintenance and overhaul plans while executing within the production target and budget limitation.
Essential Experience and Skills Required:
- Engineering or Science based degree – preferred.
- Minimum 15 years in operational environments, with strong onshore focus. Brown-field experience and working with asset integrity challenges.
- Strong knowledge of maintaining aging infrastructure and equipment in the onshore oil and gas sector.
- A strong technical onshore operations background is essential, along with a convincing track-record of leading staff to sustained improvements in maintenance, site management, operations, HSE and production performance.
- Ability to liaise closely and lead all departments in a remote location.
- Mentoring the field management and supervisors so that they can also carry out quality work and pass on best practices when not under your direct supervision.
- Sensitivity combined with hard-edged determination is needed to lead the team towards the level of disciplined operational performance promised.
- Strength-of-character sufficient to relentlessly drive forward on the basics of prudent and safe operation.
- Flexibility is required to deliver management leadership, mentoring and also to provide direct technical input, frequently at a very detailed level.
- Considering the size of the onshore operation, and its location, managing resources and logistics planning are areas of utmost importance.
- Focus on maximizing short-term production to implement innovative methods of doing this within difficult cost and technical constraints, whilst protecting longer term production continuity, meeting HSE standards and forwarding the safety and operational integrity agenda.
